Hello

Thankfully my U/S took place yesterday otherwise I would not have made it today as its still snowing. I had a really good day yestereday and went to see the 39 steps at the Criterion Theater, Piccadilly Circus. Wot a Laurf LOL Recommended for anyone who needs a pick me up.

I had an appointment to have my shoulder xrayed after an idiot took a running charge like he was practising a ruby tackle and got me straight on in the shoulder and knocked me off my feet. i was quite worried as I wasnt sure if the ensuing pain was a signal that RA had moved in to the joint or my shoulder had disintegrated. That was at the end of september. I went through a lot of medical issues that totally preoccupied me so I didnt insist about the shoulder problems at my last consultation just before Christmas. Xrayed and then u/s. It turns out that I have torn one of my muscles on my rotary cuff in my shoulder its call the supraspinatus. Whether it heals or not is really not guaranteed. At least it isnt RA. I am posting this because I believe we could easily put everything down to RA and I knew instinctively it wasnt so could have easily been fobbed off. RollEyes

Cool

Hi Mari,
I'm glad you now know what the problem is with your shoulder but sorry the news was not good.
I hope it does heal.....is there anything they can do if it doesn't?
I am definitely guilty of putting everything down to the RA ,and you are right, we shouldn't.
Glad you enjoyed the theatre.

Love, Doreen xx

Poor you, Mari.

There may be some herbal remedies or oils you could try? I am sorry it is an added problem but thankful it isn't RA.

Much love,
Amanda

Hi Mari,

Sorry to hear about the problems with your shoulder and agree that can be easy to put down everything to RA, and is easy to do.

The herb arnica taken internally as a tablet or externally as a cream works wonders for healing torn muscles, ligaments and bruising.

Love,

Barbara

Hello Everyone

Thanks for your replies. I am so glad that you suggested herbal remedies as I didnt even think in that direction. So I am going to ski up the road and see if they have some. BigGrin Husband suggested that I not carry handbag on shoulder which i will try not to to and will ask physio for exercises. (even more exercises on top of the ones I dont do know Blushing )

Tell you though last night was the 2nd night out within a week and I had just about got over Sundays excursion wth G&Ts then I topped up with Corona. I only had 3 beers last night but they went straight to my head. I was in such a giddy mood after seeing that funny play. Mind you I hadnt been out out since August and I met loads of new people and was over due an night out. Just like buses nothing for ages and then 2 come along at the same time. RollEyes

So nice for you to have a positive diagnosis Mari - a rare thing around these parts! At least you know what's causing you pain and hope you can rest enough for it to heal. Take care.

Hi Mari,

I will look through all my notes etc but here are some herbs you could try;

#Clove (Syzygium aromaticum)
Clove oil is effective in the treatment of sprains and muscular cramps. It is made into a poultice and applied on the affected parts.

#Ginger (Zingiber officinale)
Ginger is a very effective painkiller. A paste is made by rubbing dry ginger in water. This is applied locally on the sprained part.

#Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis)
The hyssop herb is very good remedy for several muscular problems, including sprains. For the treatment of sprains, a paste of the entire herb is made and is applies externally to the affected area. Alternatively, the paste can be steeped in boiling water and this can be used as fomentation for the affected muscle. Hyssop provides immediate benefits in sprains. It is also very effective in the treatment of black eyes, wounds, bruises, burns and strains.

#Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra)
Licorice is used in the treatment of muscular aches and sprains. Its roots are soaked in water overnight and this infusion is applied on the affected parts.

#Marjoram (Origanum majorana)
Oil of the marjoram herb is extracted and is applied locally on the affected regions in case of sprains, bruises and even paralysis. In case of stiffness, a simple application of the marjoram oil, slightly warmed, helps to loosen the muscles.

#Turmeric (Curcuma longa)
Turmeric is made into a paste and is mixed with lime and salt. This is applied on the sprained muscles with very good results.

Ayurvedic Treatments for Sprains

Ayurveda generally prescribes oil massage therapies for the treatment of sprains. Mahanarayana taila and Praharini taila are two good oils which can be used. These oils can be warmed a little before application to provide better effects.

Medicines that Ayurveda prescribes for people with sprains are Pratapa Lankeshwara rasa and Laxmivilasa rasa. Sinhanaada guggulu is also occasionally prescribed.

Hope some of these may help you!

Love,
Amanda

Thank you everyone. I am so lucky that I have found such suppirtive people. After all the shoulder manipulations of yesterday my shoulder has started off again. I just wonder if the tear is still there after 3 months how long is it going to take. Arnica cream is definitely on my list

Amanda you sweetie, thank you so much for the links and the recommendations. quite fancy the sloe gin truffles on the culpeper site. BigGrin the majoram and turmeric, gnger solutions appeal as they are easish to get. I take it that i need to buy the majorram oil but the tumeric and ginger are the normal dried spices you get in supermarkets.

Hi Mari

I'm sorry that you've had such a serious problem, all because of some idiot. I hope that now it's been diagnosed you'll be able to get it treated.

Glad you enjoyed the theatre, and the night out. We've had to cancel so many outings because of the snow.

Lyn
